Greece train with LA Roosters ahead of series against USA

Greece were welcomed to Los Angeles by the LA Roosters as they prepare for their historic matchup against the USA Hawks in Las Vegas.

As part of preparations for Greece's two-match series against USA Hawks and the LA Roosters participation in the NRL Nines, the two teams trained together at Long Beach, California in a unique and collaborative session.

USARL Chair Matt Goschnick expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration, saying: “It’s pleasing to see one of our domestic clubs not only assist but also benefit from the presence of a touring national team. I hope to see other teams afforded the same opportunity by touring national teams, as it will undoubtedly help develop the game across the United States”.

Terry Liberopoulos, Greek Rugby League team manager, said: “This is a great experience for our players and staff as we head to Las Vegas to play against the USA. Many of our players have come from the local Greek Rugby League domestic competition, and matches like this will only help grow the game in Greece”.

Emiliano Nash, head coach of the LA Roosters, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to train with Greece and acknowledged Sydney Roosters CEO Joe Kelly for his role in bringing the two teams together .

“It was a privilege to have the Greek national team join us. The boys and I learned a lot from the session,” Nash said.

During the session, Greece head coach Steve Georgallis took the time to offer valuable coaching insights to Nash. These shared experiences and advice will play a key role in shaping Nash’s coaching style moving forward.

Georgallis expressed his admiration for the LA Roosters, stating: “I’m impressed by how quickly the LA Roosters players adapted to new drills. Their eagerness to learn and their appreciation for the game made this a great experience for both developing nations”.

Roosters CEO Joe Kelly emphasized the importance of collaboration, saying, “This training session was a fantastic opportunity for both teams to come together in preparation for Vegas. We’re proud to have played a role in this experience and are excited for the continued development of our LA Roosters players and coaching staff through these invaluable collaborations.”

Kelly also highlighted the growth of Nash’s coaching development.

“Nash’s development doesn’t end with this experience. He will also have the opportunity to further enhance his coaching skills through mentorship from Sydney Roosters NRLW Premiership-winning coach and NSW Women’s State of Origin Coach John Strange.”

The collaboration comes at an exciting time for the LA Roosters, who are set to debut in the NRL Nines in Las Vegas before heading into the 2025 USARL domestic season.
